I am fascinated by layers of meaning—the interactions produced by time, context, culture, language, religion, identity, and medium that provide depth to something that initially appears simple. The ideas behind my work are as much a part of the physical piece as the paint-strokes and ink lines, each whole the combined product of extensive research and personal experience.Interdisciplinary and mixed media art appeals to me because of its versatility and ability to encompass multitudes. I integrate text into visual art, mix painting and embroidery, and write up research paper-adjacent essays to accompany my prints. There is enormous depth and beauty in that intersectionality found on the bridges between labels.
